What do i do after an earthquake?
Safety
1. Check yourself and others for injuries, make sure to perform first aid on yourself first. Here are the most common injuries after earthquakes:
* Open/closed wounds - Wrap a bandage around the wound
* Fracture - Bandage the fracture.
* Fainting - Lie the person's head on a flat surface and elevate their legs, placing their feet on an elevated surface. Fan air on them.
* Bruises - Use a cold pack.
* Psychological Trauma - Keep a calm disposition and ask the person to inhale and exhale until they are calm. Assure and comfort the person, and do not trigger worse behavior.
* Burns - Apply even distribution of cold water (such as a running tap) on burn.
2. Check water, gas, and electric lines for damage. Shut them off if they are damaged.
3. If you smell gas, leave immediately after opening all the doors and windows, then report to the authorities.
4. Grab your go-pack as soon as possible.
Important Reminders
1. Turn on the radio to listen to updates on the current situation.
2. Be careful around broken glass and debris.
